Samuel Eto'o, born on March 10, 1981, in Douala, Cameroon, is a former professional football player from Cameroon who now serves as the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation. Throughout his illustrious career, Eto'o achieved remarkable success both domestically and internationally.He earned the title of African Player of the Year an unprecedented four times in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2010, showcasing his exceptional talent and consistency. As a vital member of the Cameroon national team, he contributed to significant victories, including winning the Gold Medal at the 2000 Olympics and clinching the Africa Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2002. Eto'o holds the distinction of being the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations, with 18 goals, and is also Cameroon's leading scorer, netting 56 goals in 118 caps. Eto'o's journey in club football began at Real Madrid, where he showcased his precocious talent but faced tough competition, leading to loan spells before finding his stride at Mallorca in 2000. His remarkable goal-scoring exploits at Mallorca earned him a move to Barcelona in 2004, where he further solidified his status as one of Africa's greatest footballers. Eto'o's time at Barcelona saw him win La Liga three times and play pivotal roles in their Champions League triumphs in 2006 and 2009. In a historic achievement, Eto'o became the first player to win two European continental trebles, having triumphed with both Barcelona and Inter Milan.
