NII AMUGI II

Nii Amugi II, known officially as Simon Nii Yarboi Yartey, was a significant figure in Ghanaian society as the Ga Mantse in Ga for 39 years, serving from his birth on June 8, 1940, until his passing on December 10, 2004. He was the sixth child of his father, Samuel Nii Ofoli Yartey, and the second child of his mother, Elizabeth Naa Afi Torgbor of Amugi We and Sakumo Tsoshishi, respectively.

Amugi's educational journey began in 1946 when he attended Methodist primary school in Kojokrom in the Western Region of Ghana and continued his education at Nsawam ECM. He had a family with his wife Josephine Yartey, with whom he shared the joy of raising eight children.

Nii Amugi II's life was marked by his leadership and service to the community as the Ga Mantse. Unfortunately, his later years were troubled by ill health, and he eventually passed away after a prolonged struggle. His funeral was attended by notable figures such as former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings, and Professor John Atta-Mills, who was the NDC Presidential candidate for the 2008 general elections, along with Mr. Edward Doe Adjaho, Deputy Minority Leader, and Dr. Mary Grant.
