Ahmed Osman, born on January 3, 1930, in Oujda, Morocco, is recognized as a prominent Moroccan political figure, diplomat, and founder of the National Rally of Independents (RNI). He studied law at the Collège Royal in Rabat alongside future King Hassan II, later completing advanced studies in public and private law in Rabat and Bordeaux.

Osman’s career in government began with his role as Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence from 1959 to 1961. His diplomatic service included posts as Morocco’s Ambassador to Germany and, from 1967 to 1972, to the United States. He also held key domestic roles as Under Secretary for the Ministry of Mines and Industry, President of the Moroccan General Navigation Company, and later, Prime Minister from 1972 to 1979. In 1977, he took on leadership of the RNI, consolidating his influence in Moroccan politics, and served as President of the House of Representatives from 1984 to 1992.

As Prime Minister, Osman engaged in notable diplomatic activities, including meeting with U.S. President Jimmy Carter in 1977 to convey a message from King Hassan II. His tenure also saw the signing of a long-term agreement with the Soviet Union in 1978, strengthening Morocco's international alliances.

Osman’s personal life was marked by his marriage to Princess Lalla Nuzha, the sister of King Hassan II, with whom he had a son, Moulay Nawfal Osman. After her passing, Osman remarried and had another son, Ali Osman, who is married to Alia Sefrioui.
