Wake up Africa

Hector Pieterson

The innocent boy's life was cut short

THE LEGACY OF OUR FOREFATHERS

We, the sons and daughters of Africa want to uphold the beauty and dignity of mother Africa, indeed some people in different  part of the world think Africa is a poor and dependent on the west  for survival but it is not so much true, perhaps the west rather want it to look like that. The fact is we do not know the vast wealth on our land, and the west seeing the huge reserve of God giving natural and human resources always try to take advantage of our ignorance and use such immense resources for their strength, freedom and happiness. This is what our forefathers decided to fight against and we appreciate their effort that is why we want to create a forum for bringing them onto the world stage.

Indeed Africa our beloved home is a place of vitality, hope and sunshine. And so we need to re-write and re-evaluate the power and dignity of our forefathers at least creating an astrological data book for all of them is a good showcase and a beginning of something bigger. There are those also whose lives affected our mother land in either good or bad ways and we shall do well to portray them also here. During the APARTHEID era there were number of Africans, musicians, religious men, politicians, and activists who contributed, some who laid their lives for the success of Mandela’s release and subsequently the union of South Africa. Among them is Mariam Mekeeba, Lucky Dube, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Steve Biko, Hugh Masakela and many, many others.

There are those who think we have to beg for compensation from the west for the slavery of the past, no we don’t have to. Our land is a land is full of milk and honey, we don`t need to beg but think deep and plan for the use of our natural resources for the development of our African nations. One leader must not embezzle the resources of the community to the detriment of all the citizens, that is all our woes, we must not cry for food, we need not fight for recognition, what we need is for us to become aware that food, wealth, health, strength, unity and dignity is hidden in this mighty land of ours so we must learn to live in peace by sharing the resources, and creating opportunities whereby other people will grow synchronously with the growth of the nation. The laws of the states must put proper structures in place to check and balance the power and manoeuvres of the leaders. When we bring discipline to bear on ourselves and respect universal laws of nature there will be some kind of ORDER and PEACE and other people in other part of the world cannot take advantage of us nor have the ability to control our affairs. When you respect yourself other people equally will respect you.

We shall endeavour to remember our forefathers who fought for the freedom of our land and in remembering them we shall draw lessons from their strengths and their mistakes to improve and grow. We are proud of them so we shall celebrate them in ASTROVOLTA DATABANK making a showcase of their HOROSCOPES and what it entails, a source of inspiration, a stage for our lessons and a step to our growth. It is our hope that we bring enough awareness to bear on those who take responsibility of our nations and its citizens, there must be respect for other people’s lives and freedom while we live together and avoid cheating, chaos and confrontations.

Africa must unite and Africa must grow. The civil wars in Somalia, Burundi, Sudan, Congo, etc. must stop because all these degrade the beauty and dignity of Africa. Perhaps a piece of song will brighten our heart as we know that there is victory for us.

“There is victory for us, there is victory for us

In the struggle of Africa, there is victory for us

Forward ever

Backward never

In the struggle of Africa, there is victory”

This is one of Kwame Nkrumah’s victory songs.

Victory lies in our honesty and our ability to listen to the citizens of our countries, leaders of Africa must outgrow their fears of leaving the seat for others, they must live up to their obligations of not over staying their period of governance which always makes them outlive their usefulness. If you have stayed in power for over 10 years you must know that you are now a spent force who has outlive your purpose and usefulness, you must step down for someone else like you to exercise his right to serve his country. No one person must claim to have wisdom over the rest of the citizens, some who are disillusioned even after stepping down by pressure still wishes they control the country. That is a shame to them.

There are men who in their time of leadership lifted the image of Africa very high and put light in every corner of Africa but there are those who desecrated the very dignity of our blessed land. It is funny there are some ignoramuses in the west who think Africa is not part of the world. They don`t know that the highest institutions in the Americas and Europe have been chaired, supervised, and developed by the finest brains from Africa. These people are HEROS of Africa and deserve commendations. They are the lights and sunshine of our land; this is why we must clean the “HOME” so that our best brains will serve better in the land of their birth.

Apart from the NATURAL and HUMAN resources, we also have some of the world`s greatest archives of knowledge especially Timbuktu in Mali and the history of the great library of Alexandria in Egypt (the center of scholarship), which was destroyed by the Romans. Thank God a new Library is been created again. Go to Ghana and you will experience the finest museums of ancient heritage portraying the story and the remains of the slavery perpetrated by the west. When you go to Fort James near the village of Jufureh in the Gambia you will find one of the heritages of slavery, this place is now UNESCO heritage site. This is our pride, this is our hope and this is our advantage.

God bless Africa.
