Hailing from the La community of Accra in what was formerly known as the Gold Coast (now Ghana), Glover's artistic journey began against the backdrop of Presbyterian mission schools, where he received his early education.

After completing his teacher training at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Glover embarked on a transformative journey abroad, securing a scholarship to study textile design at London's Central School of Art and Design. His educational pursuits continued with further studies in art education at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and postgraduate studies in the United States, culminating in a PhD from Ohio State University in 1974.
