Mufti Taqi Usmani is a prominent Islamic scholar, jurist, and author from Pakistan, known for his extensive contributions to Islamic jurisprudence and finance. Born on October 5, 1943, in Deoband, British India, he hails from a well-respected family of scholars. His father, Mufti Muhammad Shafi, was a renowned Islamic scholar and the founder of Darul Uloom Karachi, one of the leading Islamic seminaries in Pakistan. Mufti Usmani received his early education at this seminary, where he studied classical Islamic sciences under his father and other notable scholars.


Mufti Taqi Usmani furthered his education by obtaining a degree in law from the University of Karachi and a Master's degree in Arabic literature from Punjab University. He also received specialized training in Islamic jurisprudence and legal verdicts (fatwas), becoming a qualified mufti. He served as a judge on the Shariah Appellate Bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan from 1981 to 2018, where he played a significant role in the development of Islamic law in Pakistan. He has been involved with the Islamic Fiqh Academy in Jeddah and is a member of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, an affiliate of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).


In addition to his judicial and financial contributions, Mufti Taqi Usmani is a prolific writer, with over 60 books to his name on various topics including Tafsir (Quranic exegesis), Hadith (Prophetic traditions), Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), and Tasawwuf (Islamic mysticism).
