Didier Drogba




Didier Yves Drogba Tébily, born on March 11, 1978, is a retired Ivorian professional footballer renowned for his career as a striker. He holds the record as the all-time top scorer and former captain of the Ivory Coast national team. Drogba is best known for his tenure at Chelsea FC, where he became the club's fourth highest goal scorer and is considered one of their greatest players. His physical prowess, speed, aerial ability, powerful strikes, and ball retention skills earned him acclaim as one of Africa's greatest footballers. He won the African Footballer of the Year award twice, in 2006 and 2009.

Drogba began his professional career at Le Mans before moving to Olympique de Marseille. In 2004, he joined Chelsea for a record fee and helped the club win numerous titles, including two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2012, where he scored the crucial equalizer and decisive penalty in the final against Bayern Munich. He later played for Shanghai Shenhua, Galatasaray, Montreal Impact, and Phoenix Rising, retiring in 2018.

Internationally, Drogba represented Ivory Coast in three FIFA World Cups and two Africa Cup of Nations finals. He captained the national team and remains their all-time leading goal scorer. Drogba was also involved in social issues in Africa, playing a significant role in the peace process in Ivory Coast. He served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme and Vice President of Peace and Sport. In 2022, he was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.
